As Vacas
This is the room As Vacas which means “the cows” in Galician. And, this was Inés´ room when she was little.
In traditional Galician farmhouses, the stables used to be part of the house and typically would take a big chunk of the ground floor of the building, next to the kitchen.
We named this room As Vacas because it is placed on top of where the cows used to be.
Inés has lovely memories of her childhood in this bedroom… like the floor being so old that she could see the cows through a little hole next to her bed.

O Avó
This room is called Avó, in Galician means Grandpa.
This was our great-grandfather’s room. His name was Serverino. He was a very energetic and caring person who lived until the age of 101. We are very proud.
He rarely drank alcohol or smoked. He did eat lots of eggs straight from the hens. That must have been his secret.

A do Medio
This is room O Medio which means The Middle in Galician. And, this was Inés´ parents’ room when she was little.
In traditional Galician farmhouses, the rooms were typically located in the first floor and this room was precisely in the “middle” of the corridor.
We named this room O Medio simply because it is the word that comes to our mind when we refer to it, as a sweet reminder about the time we lived there during our childhood.
