iSlow is a place for people who travel with curiosity and an open mind. Who enjoy good conversation as much as good work. Who feel at home when there’s a shared table, a coastal walk, or an unexpected connection with someone they just met.
Here, on the Costa da Morte — Galicia’s wild and largely undiscovered Atlantic coastline — slowing down isn’t a retreat from life. It’s a return to it.
Life here has a rhythm. Mornings at your desk, lunch that takes longer than it should, an afternoon walk to the beach, dinner with whoever’s around. Work gets done. So does everything else.
A Week at iSlow
No two weeks here are the same — and that’s not something we say to sound interesting. It’s just true. The house changes with the people in it.
Some groups cook together every night. Others are more independent. Some weeks there’s a spontaneous trip to a festival, a group surf lesson, a long dinner that turns into a late one. Other weeks are quieter — everyone deep in work, the house calm, the evenings short. Neither is wrong.
Inés and Julio are here, and they create the conditions for things to happen. But the experience isn’t something we deliver to you. It’s something that gets built by whoever is living here at the time — the mix of people, what they bring, what they feel like doing.
What stays roughly constant: mornings tend to be for working, the table fills up at lunch, and by evening the house has usually figured out what it wants to do. Beyond that, it depends on who’s here.
That’s part of why stays start at two weeks. It takes a few days to settle in, learn each other’s rhythms, understand what this particular version of the house is going to be. The second week is when it clicks.

There were beautiful common areas to interact with the community. Inez and Julio are welcoming hosts. I felt instantly at home. There was fresh bread delivered every morning as well as local eggs and oranges. Laxe is quaint with spectacular hiking and pristine beaches. My experience was so wonderful that I’m planning to return in May for the hiking retreat.Posted on Google Jonathan MaloneyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Everything about iSlow is a 5+ star experience. The attention to detail in the rooms and living spaces and the warmth that Julio, Ines, and Laura bring to the house make iSlow an incredibly special place. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcome and 2 months later, it was hard to leave! If you are looking for a cozy, quiet retreat surrounded by some of the most beautiful natural areas in Europe, this is your spot! The team at iSlow go the extra distance to provide a culturally immersive and tranquil coliving experience. Inés and Julio created an amazing space, I really enjoyed staying at iSlow for 1 month. It was really a home away from home - and I'll definitely come back :) The house is beautiful, with a big common area as well as cozy private rooms - allowing to enjoy the coliving as well as to find quiet e.g. for working. There is also a perfectly equipped coworking area. Best of all Inés, Julio and their kids bring Laxe / culture and tradition in the house :) I could participate in many events and workshops, meeting other travellers as well as local people. They really care about sustainability and sharing knowledge, I learned a lot. And the location is also great for surfing with Traba, Soesto or Malpica not too far away. I will not forget my surf session with dolphins :)Posted on Google Manuel RennerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My stay at iSlow was incredible. E ó final nótase no ambiente.Posted on Google EvaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Alojamiento nuevo, cómodo y con buen ambiente! Fantastic Coliving place! Spent great 4 weeks at iSlow and can totally recommend it if you are looking for a social coliving. The house is absolutely beautiful and well thought out at the same time. Compared to other colivings, the kitchen is quite big with a great layout and can accommodate several people cooking at the same time. The dedicated coworking space features individual tables and screens what makes working there comfortably. There is an additional room for working where you can have calls, which you can also do outside if the weather is nice. There are a few surf spots around between 10 and 45 minutes drive by car and the coliving attracts other surfers as well. Ines and Julio have done an amazing job creating this place and make everyone feel at home. They also try to make sure there are always activities like a family dinner or workshop you can join. Overall it is was a great time, I met many inspiring people, and I’m already looking forward to coming back next year!Posted on Google SashaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I spent a great month in iSlow this September. It was like on a rural retreat / holidays at granny's. The house is beautiful, spacious and new: beds are comfy, shower is powerful and hot, kitchen has all the amenities you can imagine, fitness stuff, Netflix,.... During my stay iSlow also hosted entrepreneurs who came for workshops from different countries and Galician neighbourhoods which made the atmosphere super creative and inspiring. The business is run by a couple who showed up daily and truly made me feel as a part of their family. They cared about a good balance between privacy and social activities. The area is kinda remote from civilisation but its worth the time spent on getting there! 15 min walk to a supermarket, waves, viewpoints. If you have an option to take a car - go for it, you really need it to see the region or get to the surf spots or bigger cities.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Slow Life
In Laxe, slow living isn’t a philosophy you adopt — it’s just how things work. The village has a festival calendar older than anyone can remember. People here have always known each other by name.
At iSlow it’s not about doing everything slowly. It’s about doing things at the right speed — which sometimes means a long lunch, and sometimes means a focused four-hour work session with the door closed.
We try to be conscious about how we spend our time and what we consume. We buy locally, eat seasonally, and support the people around us. Not as a statement. Just as a way of living.
Slow Food
The Slow Food philosophy puts emphasis on the origin of its produce, the preparation of traditional meals and the satisfaction of sitting down to share it with others. These are values that connect us to our traditions. Galicians were “slow” long before we even knew about slow food.
In Galicia, gastronomy is the common thread. Food brings us together around a table to share moments with family and friends. At iSlow, we advocate for a slow pace when it comes to food. We are committed to the local, sustainable and healthy. Luckily we live in an environment surrounded by small producers and local farmers who take great care of their produce. Fresh fish and seafood are landed every morning in the harbour at Laxe, just 1 km away.
